Documentaries
Profilm has produced and co-produced a number of documentaries in the past, both for the Icelandic and foreign markets. Here are a few of our recent projects.
Iceland Volcano Eruption
Our latest documentary (Iceland volcano eruption) was a great success, now Profilm is producing a new documentary for National Geographic channel.
Again we are working with our good friends at Scandinature USA on this one.
Elephant Crisis
"The Disappearing World of the Asian Elephant"(working title) is a brand new documentary that Profilm is producing. The Asian elephant is loosing it´s numbers at an alarming rate and the world´s leading experts claim that it will be extinct in less than 50 years time. We´ve completed a 7 week research and filming tour in Thailand and the second part of the filming is due this coming spring. Jóhann Sigfússon directs the documentary and it is filmed by Gunnar Konráðsson. The documentary is shot in Thailand, Sri Lanka and India. It is due to be completed in August 2011
Ultimate Wild Journeys - Thailand
Profilm is working on an Ultimate Journeys´ travel programme about Thailand. Expect an ultimate experience of this amazing country, Thailand, including life in the huzzle and buzzle of the capital Bangkok, diving with sea gypsies in the Andaman Sea, the serene life of monks, beautiful temples, elephants and wonderful people. This programme will be 50 minutes long
Ultimate Wild Journeys - Iceland
A HD documentary we are working on at Profilm Iceland with Scandinature USA.Iceland is a wild and beautiful country, the last frontier in Europe to be discovered by man.This film explores the wild beauty of this volcanic island.Breathtaking scenery and fantastic landscapes under the wast blue horizon.
Living On The Edge
“Living On The Edge” is a documentary Profilm is producing. The documentary traces the story ofthe natural history and settlement of Iceland since the ice age.Jóhann Sigfússon is our DoP in the Icelandic nature for this one. This project is shot on HDCam and is currently in production.
Everybody Present
Profilm recently finished “EVERYBODY PRESENT”, an hour long documentary on a group of ladies who have been dancing together for half a century. The documentary is directed by the renowned photographer Maria Gudmundsdottir and it is her first documentary film. The script is written by best-selling author Vigdis Grimsdottir.
